I went, I saw and I conquered the Meet the Fans session with Chester Bennington of Linkin Park.

Why?

Because I HUGGED Chester!

At first, it’s more like helping my brother to buy the CD as he’s not around. Free giant poster if we buy it during the Pre-Sale. Never thought I would get carried away with the LP craze. Only when I reached Tower Records KLCC did I realised how much I wanted to meet him. Desperately, in fact. All attributed to the LP posters sticking on every inch of the outlet along with the blasting of their new single, What I’ve Done over the stereo.

By the time I reached there around 1pm, the place is already crowded with young people i.e LP fans. I kinda have the feeling that I’m too old for all this. But what the heck, I’m here to buy the CD, will go off after getting my hands on the poster. That was before the sudden urge to stay. As I was queuing up, can’t resist the prospect of meeting him face to face. 

Later on, I found out that only the 1st 50 people who bought the CD are allow to meet him. No wonder I saw some of them holding tightly to their Tower Records yellow sticker. Suddenly, I remembered, some guys in front of me was given the sticker. Shit! If I’ve come a few minutes earlier, it would have been me holding on to the sticker. How can they do this to me? I’ve come all the way, bought the CD, excitedly waiting for him, now only they decided to tell me it’s reserved for the 1st 50 people. That’s unfair. If they wanted to do so, should have informed us earlier. At least we can come as early as possible and if we still couldn’t make it to the 1st 50 list, we’ve ourshelves to be blame.

In the moment of anger, I called my brother in Malacca to tell him the bad news. His reaction is more hostile than I expected. Thank goodness, he’s not next to me, worried he might strangle me to death.

“u idiot, already told u to go earlier”

“u know it’ll be packed with people and u still take ur own sweet time”

“now who’ll sign the picture and poster? u tell me. u tell me”

Damn! I’m already frustrated with Tower Records. Not in mood to endure another round of scolding from him.

But luck was on my side, one of the staff approached me and asked if I’ve the sticker. I guess my disappointment must have shown on my face. With a sad voice, I told him I missed it by a mere minute. Such a nice guy because he offered to help, to see what he can do. I jumped with joy when he returned half an hour later with a yellow sticker for me. He asked me to keep if safe and not to let anyone see it. I nodded. The others will mobbed me if they knew I had the sticker. Better not put my life on danger. LOL.

Yay!! I’m meeting Chester. I’m meeting Chester…

While waiting for the clock to struck 4pm, I chatted with a lady in her 20s. Probably a few years older than me. What surprised me is that she bring along her 3 year old daughter. Even her husband tagged along to take care of the daughter. So sweet. Maybe I’m not too old at all to go crazy over LP. More surprise when she told me she went to their concert back in 2003 although she was 2 months pregnant with her daughter.

As the clock approaching 4pm, more and more people crammed the outlet till the management have no choice but to close it down in order to prevent people from pushing their way in.

My leg and muscle was aching like hell by the time Chester came. He was late, showed up around 5pm. The whole crowd went hyper when they saw the sight of him. You can hear shouting everywhere and they were chanting his name non stop.

Next thing I know, the queue was moving fast and I’m on my way to meet him. So excited and nervous at the same time. I’m getting ready with my camera when a guy from the management forbid me from using it. Even to the extent of shouting at us to keep away our camera or risk the chance of getting kick out. Grrrr….!!!

Soon after, I heard Serena C (host for the sutograph session) telling us over the microphone that they will be NO HUG as it’ll slow down the queue. WTF! As if I care. Luckily, Chester told her off by saying he’ll hug anyone if he wants.

So I got Chester to sign the poster and most importantly the picture of him which my brother took during the LP concert. He went for the Meet & Greet session back then because he was a LP Underground member. While signing the stuff, Chester asked me where I took the picture. He’s talking to me!!! After that, I asked him for a hug. Without hesitation, he stood up and give me one. It was so surreal. I can even feel his sweat. The crowd went wild and I bet some of them are jealous at me. Such a waste he was wearing a hoodie. Thought of admiring his tattoo. My brother mentioned that it was cantik and cool.

Stayed back to get a picture of him from far. It was hard even with my CANON digital camera. The picture turned out to be blur and dark after I zoomed in a few times. At the same time, there’s this fat white guy standing right to Chester all the time. Kept blocking my view with his fat belly. This is the best I can take.

[Note : Have to go and nurse my aching leg as I've been standing for almost 5 hours]
