‘Flying’ into the Clouds

On a bright sunny afternoon, the SABians gang which consisted of ME, Kah Mun, Choon Hoong, Fang and Raymond decided to venture into the clouds by going somewhere hilly. I wished I could do that, flying into the clouds. LOL. But the nearest we got ourshelves into is to be surrounded by the mist.

Destination : Fraser’s Hill

Date : 24th-26th June 2007

During the days leading up to the trip, we already got hyped up and went for grocery shopping. With 3 guys on the trip, we do need all the necessary food supplies. Believe it or not, we actually went to 2 supermarket to get it. The first in Cold Storage, Times Square and later in Jusco, Taman Maluri. Things are limited and kinda expensive in Cold Storage hence the second visit to another supermarket. Should have go to Tesco instead as I suggested. The guys seemed to lack the shopping genes. I openly gave them the I-told-u-so look when we failed to get the things. You think that was cruel, wait till you hear what Kah Mun has to say ( she couldn’t join us for the shopping).

“u know, u can save a few ringgit if u get the drinking water from Tesco. somemore it’s MINERAL water, more worth it”

(referring to the 2 5L drinking water the guys bought from Jusco, the cheapest they could get their hands on)

At the end, we spent around RM150++ on the foods alone.

The night before the trip, each of us received a SMS from Choon Hoong. I’m going to write down the contents because I need to emphasis on something. Here’s what he wrote :

“ello monkeys! a polite reminder dat we’re meeting at LCH’s hse at 2.30pm SHARP. pls double check yr luggages if u have missed out anything. sleep tight.”

See the word ’sharp’?

When I reached his house around 3pm, he was no where to be seen. That’s after his latest SMS where the time was changed to 3pm. The only person in  the living room is Raymond and he has been there since 1.45pm.

By the time he came home and everyone showed up, it’s almost 4pm. Time to hit the road. But not that fast as Kah Mun complained about not having sweetcorn for BBQ. Another trip to Jusco to get the sweetcorn she wanted and a few stuff. When I thought everything was settled, Choon Hoong forgot to bring his handphone’s charger. Once again, back to his house.

We embarked on our journey at about 5pm. As I was sitting in the car, enjoying the scenery, Fang and Raymond decided to camwhore a bit, to ease their boredom.

Was Fang trying to audition for Nescafe or Darlie’s advertisement ?

It took us approxiamtely 2 hours to reach the peak. Road leading up the moutain was very narrow and Choon Hoong could only drive 30km/hour max. We couldn’t concealed our excitement when we saw the resort.

Can’t wait to see our apartment. But first, we need to check-in.

3 ‘macho’ guys walking to the reception.

The apartment is spacious to accomodate all 5 of us. It even has a great view from the balcony. Our stomach was growling by the time we finished unpacking. We headed to town, hunting for food. The town is pretty dead with only a row of shophouses. As we were starving, we choose the first restaurant we set our eyes on. Dinner took forever to be serve and the guys are getting a bit restless.

Pity! Only a bottle of water as a temporary replacement.

To get their mind of the hunger, I took out my camera and camwhore a bit with them.

I guess it managed to distract him judging by this lovely smile.

The dinner we had was pretty bad. As a result, Kah Mun and I grabbed ice-cream because we were still hungry.

Once we got back to the apartments, the guys quickly laid their hands on the PS2 which Fang brought along for entertainment purposes. We also played ‘chor tai d’ and Kah Mun seemed to be good at it till we called her ‘toh mui’ (gambling queen). We slept early that night due to tiredness.

The next morning, everyone woke up early for breakfast as it was served till 10am. We had a hearty meal of eggs, sausages, toast and cereal. While having breakfast, I couldn’t help noticing this (arranged by the guys).

We began the day by sticking to our plan of exploring the place. What’s better than to go for jungle trekking?

Subsequently, we made our way down the hill towards the trail. It was very very misty that morning. The guys couldn’t take the cold and was seen freezing their butt off (dramatic pose!).

We the girls did much better in withstanding the cold.

Unfortunately, the weather gave up on us. It was drizzling non stop. The pathetic part is the unpredictable weather condition. Suddenly it was bright and sunny, next thing you know, it was dropping water here and there. Such a bummer!

:(

It was pure disappointment as we could only stared at the entrance.

Walking back to the resort in a solemn mood.

Look closely at Raymond’s fingers. I’m NOT going to say anything. Let your imagination run wild.

Fang was devastated the jungle trekking was called off.

However, their mood was lifted by the mention of camwhoring.

*shaking head*

Poser! Poser!

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers in the making?

Due to the rain, the BBQ session was also postponed. But still, we decided to check out the BBQ site.

Ours is the one at the very top right side.

We spent the whole afternoon playing and eating. As the night approached, our stomach was growling as usual. Since we locked ourshelves in the apartment the whole day, all we had for lunch is some light snack. However, most of the shops was closed for the day. No other choice but to frequent this restaurant.

Hill View Restaurant.

Fang nicknamed it KILL View the night before when we first set our foot in the town. That’s because he read it in WikiTravel that the place charge exorbitantly.

To our surprise, not only is the food resonably priced but it was edible. Better than the one we had yesterday night which was extremely awful. Fang was determined to clear their name. Not sure if he has done so. In addition, the owner was also kind enough to inform us of a electricity failure occuring later in the night starting from 11pm. Silverpark Resort Management did not even bother telling us! Bad service!

Immediately when the clock struck 11pm, we were placed in total darkness. It was really scary as the whole resort was only occupied by 2 family. One of it is us. If something bad happen, we would be helpless. The whole Fraser’s Hill is in complete darkness.

Thank goodness Fang brought his torchlight along and rescued us from the pitch black darkness. He tied it to a string attached to the fan. Reminded me of a illegal gambling scene. This was coupled witht the fact that we had nothing to do but to play ‘chor tai d’. One small lightbulb hanging on top a gambling table as seen in the movie. *chuckling*

The electricity did not resume till 2.30am. I knew because I was waiting for it to come back before closing my eyes.

The guys had difficulties waking up in the morning. Kah Mun and I practically have to ‘hijack’ their room.

We were supposed to check-out at 12pm. Using the times left, we explored the town.

The clock tower. I know we looked tiny in the photo. Couldn’t help it. Nobody was there to snap it for us so we had to relied on the timer therefore the distance.

One of the mini market along the road. What a name! It appeared on the map and the guys has been eager to visit the store.

How time flies and the trip is almost over. Ready with our bags…

It did not went smoothly, the charcoals refused to lit up. After a few attempts, we were overjoyed by the sight of red ashen charcoal.

Time to grill!!!
